God's Great Outdoors Field Teams: Living Your Faith
If your heart is stirred by God to use your passion for the outdoors to reach unsaved outdoorsmen, then consider starting a local God’s Great Outdoors Field Team.
What is a Field Team?
A God’s Great Outdoors field team is a ministry team, under the authority of your local church, that prayerfully considers the various talents, skills and experiences represented by the field team members and utilizes the recreational resources in your area to conduct evangelistic outreach events for unsaved sportsmen in your area.
How to get started?
The essential starting point must be prayer. You, as the potential field team leader, must seek God about this undertaking. Is He behind desire or is your pride? Are you willing to serve in obscurity in menial tasks so some unsaved person will have a life-changing experience? Are you willing to be vulnerable about your weaknesses and truthfully share how your faith in Jesus has changed your life? The “lost” do not need another fun event. The lost need Jesus. Your priority must be to create the forum for eternally significant interactions between your field team members and unsaved people. It will have no Kingdom benefit if you put on a wonderful event but no one on your team goes in deep as Witnesses to salvation in Christ with the participants.
That’s why prayer is your starting point. Are you willing to go deep? Have you prayed about which other Christ followers in your area share this passion for the lost? Have you asked your pastor to pray about incorporating a God's Great Outdoors Field Team into your local church? If your answer to your prayers is to move ahead with starting a GGO Field Team your next step is to either attend a “God’s Great Outdoors Trail to Adventure Conference” or to acquire the God’s Great Outdoors DVD Training.
In order to use the name “God’s Great Outdoors” for your team you must first register with God’s Great Outdoors. Registration will include written affirmation of the mission statement and statement of faith of the ministry of God’s Great Outdoors as well as have written agreement of your local church to abide by the terms of the ministry’s organization. Contact Gerry Caillouet by email or call him at 1-877-TALKGGO (1-877-825-5446) 9am-6pm EST.
Resources to get you started?
Trail to Adventure Training Conferences are offered throughout the United States annually. Check out the Events page to see currently scheduled conferences or contact Gerry Caillouet for more information about possibly hosting a conference at your church.
The “Trail to Adventure! DVD Teaching Series” is available for purchase from God’s Great Outdoors. The 2 DVD teaching series package includes a PDF file which gives the purchasing church the legal rights to print out one or more of the 180+ page manuals. The DVD's will walk your outdoor ministry team through many key points and ways to do outdoor activity based ministry.
