God's Great Outdoors Radio

God's Great Outdoors is The Trail to Adventure,
a weekly 25-minute radio program that takes you on the journey to meet with well-known and not so well-known outdoorsmen.

Professional sportsmen making their living from the outdoors lend their time to the programs's line-up. BOWHUNTER magazine's editor, Dwight Schuh, Russell Thornberry - Executive Editor of Buckmaster Magazine, Lindner's Angling Edge, Ron and Al Lindner, Chuck Buck of Buck Knives, Bill Dance of Bill Dance Outdoors, Shaw Grigsby's "One More Cast", Dave Blanton from "Realtree Outdoors", Jimmy Houston, "America's Favorite Fisherman," and Dave Watson of Matthew's TV Show, are just a few of the experts who give tips on woodsmanship and reflect on their Christian walk.

Also, well-known ministry leaders, such as Joni Erickson Tada, directors and leaders of outdoor ministries, and perhaps even your next door neighbor or friend who you enjoy outdoor activities with may be interviewed as we travel down life's path together. God's Great Outdoors Radio Programming invites listeners on the Trail to Adventure!

A little more background

The idea for this program began to take shape during the Tar Hollow Hunt, an annual camping and hunting weekend held at Tar Hollow State Park, in southeastern Ohio. "I got to thinking about all those I knew through Christian Bowhunters of America and how people need to know there are Christians involved in that and other hunting organizations," says Gerry Caillouet, host and producer of God's Great Outdoors. He approached Jon Skillman, an announcer at the time with the CDR Radio Network, who in turn assisted Caillouet in developing the program through CDR. The program's purpose is aimed at "encouraging the Christian to use the outdoors as a way of building a bridge to his friends and family" with the message of Christ. "One not-so-hidden agenda I have is to get Christians who are doing absolutely nothing for Jesus Christ off their cans and to do something to reach non-believers. And this program encourages Christian outdoorsmen to do just that," he says. The program is taped on location 100 percent of the time with interviews from hunting and fishing experts who are also Christians. Segments include "The Country Kitchen" featuring game recipes, related public service announcements, "Hunting Blunders," and "The One That Got Away." Funding is provided by sponsors such as Black Widow Custom Bows, Inc., and API Outdoors, Inc.
