DRAFT DAY

Psalm 139:13-16
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

All football eyes the last few days were on... DRAFT DAY.  Some had high hopes and dreams, some were met and some werr crushed.

What history will usually forget about sports is what's left off the box score and the highlight reel. Everything that can't be simply broken down and explained in news print. Forgettable things like what happened in the NFL Draft in 2005.

All the cameras were on him as the first selection was announced, but half the crowd gasped as a different name was read.  And then over several hours, name after name was read.  Names of players we had never heard before and some we haven't heard of since.  Players that never did make an impact in the world of football.

Finally at pick # 24 Aaron Roger's name was finally read, when he was selected by the Green Bay Packer, a team that was least in need of a quarterback.

Rogers had been let down, as he had coming out of high school when he was overlooked by all big schools.  Now here it was April 23, 2005 and his dreams of being the #1 pick in the NFL draft were crushed... Then team after team said, "we don't need him".  Then the disappointment of being chose by a team that already had a quarterback that had not missed a single game in many years and was still playing with the strength of a 20 year old.  Rogers had to be questioning his true value.

How many of us have gone through life thinking that we should be used in one way to become a success, but God has other plans for us?  We believe that we are supposed to do this and God says "do that"?  God has a plan far above our plan in life.  He knows the beginning from the end.

We might not be the biggest or strongest.  We might not be first round pick material, but God has a place for you that fits right into His plan, a needed player on His team.  We need to trust in that and keep moving forward as He leads.

On "Draft Day" way back in the book of 1st Samuel, Samuel went to the house of Jesse to annoint the next king of Israel.  Every time Jesse brought a son out (10 in all) God told Samuel, "not him"...  Finally they had gotten to the last son, David, the youngest and smallest, but God said, "he's the one".  David was to be the next king... God had a plan.

You might not see it.  You might be the smallest or consider yourself under qualified, but God has a plan for you and your life.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us...
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

You've already been selected, trust God and get in the game and give it your best.ere…..
